How will the lunch discussions work?
During lunch we'll break into a few discussion groups. The number of groups will depend on the number of registrants. Prior to the workshop you'll receive another email asking you indicate which discussion topic interests you so we can get an idea of how many groups we need for each.
Ideally these discussions are a great way to continue talking with fellow participants about ideas generated by previous speakers, share what's worked for you and what hasn't. It also gives you a chance to meet new colleagues with similar interests.
Discussion topics
Discussion Topic 1 - Social networking and education Moderator: Sara Holder, Librarian, Education Library, McGill University See the Economist's debate series on the topic for thought stimulation "Will social networking technologies will bring large [positive] changes to educational methods, in and out of the classroom?"
Discussion Topic 2 - Learning 2.0: What works for your small community, budget, space or staff? Moderator: Alexandra Yarrow, Librarian, Ottawa Public Library For ideas see "The 23 Things" post from Stephen Abram's blog and this summary and link to slides of "Tiny Tech" talk given by Jessamyn West at MLA conference last year
